Camera Kit Cost Comparison Table

While shopping for a new digital camera system I was wondering what the total cost of ownership would be for a ~1000ish camera body + a kit including a wide-angle, a “normal” prime, and a telephoto zoom lens. Of course, there are many different factors that go into deciding which camera system to go with I think seeing down the road at what creating a good kit would cost was very important to me.

My methodology was to choose original manufacturer lenses with as close as I could find to 16-35mm, 50mm, and 70-300mm focal lengths because 1) its what I like to shoot with and 2) most of these focal lengths are available in every system. There are a few situations where third-party lenses or different focal lengths would be compelling options. For example, the well-liked Tamron 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 for Canon and Nikon APS-C cameras would shave off a few hundred dollars off the cost.

If anybody is wondering what system I chose, I went with the Fuji X-T1.
